Portfolio
Note that this is just a sampling of our portfolio. Due to our agreements with some clients, we are unable to show all of the projects we have worked on– if you’re looking for something that’s not here, just ask us.
Paraculture Books
We worked with Portland-based design house Cococello to build this site out for Virginia-based Paraculture Books. We used WordPress as our platform, highly customizing the theme to fit their needs while keeping 100% of the content user-editable. We also customized the awesome User Access Manager plugin to allow an area of the site with very granular access controls so that publishers and authors can access private content which they are involved with.
Avi Chai
We partnered up with New York design firm Inside Out Design to build this site for the major Jewish philanthropic organization Avi Chai. The entire site is mirrored (English and Hebrew), which was especially tricky as Hebrew is a right-to-left language. The site has been completed, however, the client is currently working on uploading content and we are planning our launch for March 2010.
CardSauce
We built this eCommerce site for CardSauce from scratch, using the CodeIgniter PHP framework. This involved a custom cart, blog, forum, and much more, and was built with liberal usage of jQuery to enhance user experience and minimize page loads.
East Bartlesville Christian Church
http://eastbartlesvillecc.com/
This was a quick job– the client provided us with sliced HTML/CSS files which we then converted into a WordPress theme.
Mobile Home Nation
We designed and built this website for Mobile Home Nation from scratch using CodeIgniter. It allows users to create listings, upload photos and search for homes based on proximity to a zip code or by state. We also integrated Google Maps into the listing pages.
BabyBond Nursing
Fast-growing company BabyBond Nursing turned to designer Stef Serafin to redesign their site, and Stef turned to Hotchkiss Consulting to bring that design to life. This site was built from scratch in WordPress, with a touch of Flash, two splashes of AJAX, and some heavy plugin customization.
Olson & Farlow
When world-renowned photographers Randy Olson and Melissa Farlow came to Portland-based design house Cococello wanting to convert their in-depth, photo-centric site to WordPress, Cococello worked up a great design and turned to us to bring it into Wordpress, building the site into a fully custom WordPress MU theme, relying heavily on custom fields and tricky coding to bend the WP engine to our will.
The Appraisal Hub
This site features a full web app built from the ground up by Hotchkiss Consulting. We both designed and developed the site. All development was done using the MVC model, utilizing the CodeIgniter PHP framework. We relied heavily on a zip code database that we designed in-house to track appraiser coverage. We also relied heavily on AJAX, utilizing both the Prototype.js and jQuery frameworks and the script.aculo.us library to minimize refreshes and enhance the user experience. In the coming weeks, we will have a demo version of this app up on our servers to allow you to fully experience the site.
Overtime Pain Relief
http://overtimepainrelief.com/
The Overtime Pain Relief website is built entirely on top of WordPress. We also built a completely custom eCommerce solution for this site from scratch. We integrated Overtime with Authorize.net for both 1-time and recurring billing, built in affiliate tracking, referral rewards, and a coupon system. In addition, since Overtime is based in California, we also had to build custom tax tables to allow for proper tax rates to be applied on a city-by-city basis (based on zip code information).
Other highlights include the video testimonials section, which uses custom fields to make all the information easily accessible, and the custom sidebar script which makes it easy for the client to quickly control which sidebar items display on any given page.
Andy Hayes, Travel Writer/Photographer
http://andyhayes.com/blog/search/
While we did some site-wide CSS fixes for Andy, the majority of our work focused on the Experience Search (check it out at the above link). This was built in AJAX using the Prototype.js framework, utilizing a PHP/MySQL backend.
Horseonality
http://horseonality.com/
This website offers a full horse marketplace where you can purchase horses, trucks, and trailers. It uses a custom algorithm to match potential owners with horses based on personality. There is also a custom-built personals site.
Blue Ribbon Properties
This website for Durango’s Blue Ribbon Properties was built on top of WordPress to allow the client to easily customize the site. We heavily customized WordPress to allow for real estate listings and MLS search within the site.
Salmon Falls Resort
This is one of three sites that we built for Salmon Falls Resort in Ketchikan, Alaska. These sites have a fully custom reservations system and use OO PHP to display available dates. Furthermore, we used the Prototype.js AJAX library to automatically update pricing based on options chosen by the user.
